This means a user can combine or overlay their design accurately against detailed spatial data, improving design precision and providing a simple solution for architects, engineers and data administrators to meet legal and customer obligations. MapRelate is a complementary component for AutoCAD that allows users to gain instant and direct access to their local or corporately held spatial data from within their native AutoCAD environment. I have a Cisco switch that I have to deal with - I have no control over it's configuration and at my facility, there isn't even anyone to ask ( a long story ). We made it to Friday! And while it was actually a Thursday, if we roll back the clock to August 19, 2004, it was definitely a good day for internet search giant Google (now known as Alphabet) as it had its in. Snap! I have been getting an error message about my graphics card too so maybe that has something to do with it. I think I will get one of the wireless guys to try to open it on their computer and see if the files behave the same way. It is a shame though since I know there must be some information somewhere as to why this is not working. That is how they have done it in the past here.

There has been so much trial and error with no good outcome I am about ready to just use visio and let the wireless guys draw their own walls.

I don't really need the software for my job but I do need to see how to set up the cad files. The problem with pushing Ekahau for support is that the wireless engineering department has already bought the software. I tried AutoCAD Architecture and some of the layers work fine other layers don't show up at all, not in the background or the import window. They appear in the background but don't come in as actual walls. I have tried AutoCAD Lt which has spotty results with some walls coming in and others disappearing. If anybody has any advice on this issue it might help keep me from going insane trying to figure out what I am overlooking. I have been saving the cad file as 2013 but I did try 2004 I think it was, just in case it was a later version issue. So there is no text or extra stuff that could confuse the program. I have eliminated all but two layers, one for exterior walls and the other for interior, since this is all the specification we will require. The version I am experimenting with is an evaluation version. I can't help but believe that someone else has had similar issues with importing.

The support guy at Ekahau said they don't really have any procedure defined for creating the CAD files, presumably because you wouldn't often be the one creating those files. I know the CAD file is supposed to import into Ekahau but the files I have experimented with don't come in fully intact. I am looking for a way to eliminate the double work that takes place when the wireless engineers take my floor plan and draw the walls on top of it.
